“The nomadic, grassroots art event One Night of Art will pop up once again with its fourth installation on July 25th from 6pm to midnight at The Creative Salon (324 1st Avenue SW).
By piggybacking on the extremely popular weekly downtown Rochester celebration,Thursdays on First, One Night of Art hopes to give the wider community the opportunity to experience what our “underground” arts community has to offer.
This fourth installation of this juried art show began in November 2012 with immediate success. Organized by local artist Bobby Marines as a collective showcase for local art, One Night of Art continues to bring together dozens of the Rochester area’s hidden gems into a single location and has drawn the attention of arts groups both nationally and in the Twin Cities.
In addition to the visual arts typically featured at One Night of Art, the event will feature music, poetry, spoken word, and sculpture. Local hip-hop artist Jae Havoc (Joe McShan) will MC a local hip-hop showcase featuring Moxie (Mitchel Paulson), Buddha, Sam Phoenix, with backbeats from VMDJ Anomalous. Local musician Andrea White and spoken word artist Danny Solis will also perform.”
An Interview with Jae Havoc, Rochester’s talented and uncompromising Hip Hop Artist, who put has put together a show for One Night of Art w/ other local rappers Moxie, Buddha, & more. How long will a show like this be a rarity in Rochester?
Jae Havoc - “The Fine Art of Escapism”
This piece walks us through a day in the life of a young man after experiencing a traumatic event and deals with a problem that is very real.
This acts as a sort of flip-side of “Escapism For Dummies” in that both deal with the topic of Escapism in different ways.
Every view is appreciated.
In case you haven’t seen it/heard it, check it out! This goes out to a generation stressing about what degrees to get and how they be heard, when you just have to do what you love and do the shit out if it!
